The original Stella Maris (church in Sliema) pulpit was damaged during the second World War. As a result, in 1949 Samuel Bugeja was commissioned to execute several woodcarvings, including the two inner angel supports. Samuel made all the models which were cast in bronze, including the angels holding the tablets of the Commandments.
